Membership Updates – Recertification Credits and Upcoming Training Options

For those who did not receive this update at the CPMA conference, we are thrilled to announce that our web-based recertification database is now back online.

All you should need to do is put in your last name and certificate number, and it’ll pull up your credit report. Https://online.pestworldcanada.net.

There are a few members who have reported thus far that they have been unable to pull up their report. If this is the case, please email us at the info@spmabc.com address. It will not mean that you don’t have any credits towards certification—it would only mean that there was an input error (as all the records were input manually), or that we have an old certificate number on file. This can be corrected as soon as it’s been reported to us.

Secondly (this was shared at the AGM last week but for those who were not in attendance) we have been having some issues with this inbox (due to it’s prolonged use there are several spam issues) where emails from our membership are not landing (particularly with attachments), but I’ve been advised that a new inbox will be set up soon and when that happens, we will be sure to update our membership with the correct contact information.

Finally, I’ve received confirmation that the upcoming web-based training sessions through PCT (COCKROACH CONTROL: NEXT-LEVEL LEARNINGS VIRTUAL CONFERENCE), has been approved for the following provincial credits:

12:15-1:15 Cockroach control in multi-family housing1 credit Pest Management
1:25-2:25 Solving challenging cockroach control infestations in food facilities1 credit Pest Management
2:35-3:35 Lessons learned: Cockroach control case histories1 credit Pest Management
3:45-4:45 Cockroach control: Getting down and dirty1 credit Pest Management

Registration for the PCT session can be completed here.

SPMABC – Ukraine

SPMABC Members,

As you are no doubt aware the situation in Ukraine has escalated and the humanitarian crisis has become dire. Over the last couple of weeks, Europe has seen the largest mass migration of people since the end of the Second World War. As the political leaders of the world impose sanctions on the Russian regime, ordinary Ukrainians have had to flee their homes, towns and cities, losing everything including their loved ones and even their lives.

The SPMABC has engaged with the CPMA regarding some form of support for the Ukrainian people. The SPMABC also wants to encourage our membership that if they wish to show support that the best way to do so is by supporting this registered charity set up by the Canadian Red Cross, a tax receipt will be issued and, the Canadian Government has promised to match all eligible donations. Please follow the link below.

Thank you for your time and attention, our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine,

Annual General Meeting April 12th- Call for Board Nominations (deadline Thursday March 17th at 12PM)

Given the everchanging climate of Public Health Regulations, the board has once again elected to have this year’s annual meeting be via Zoom again this year. This year’s AGM will be Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 at 4 pm.

We will once again need to conduct the board election via email ballot rather than at the meeting.

We are asking at this time that anyone who would like to be on the ballot for this year’s board to please submit names to this email address no later than Thursday March 17th at 12PM. If your emails arrive later than this time, you will not be able to submit your name for the ballot this year.

Once we have received all names for nomination, each member company will be sent a ballot via email (to the email address that you provided on your membership application form).

The Zoom meeting details will be sent to the membership at the end of next week.
